Founder
LOURDES CENTRAL SCHOOL (LCS) is an English Medium
Co-educational School, which is the brain child of
Rev.Bernad L. D' Souza. He is also the Chairman of the
Institution. He is an reductionist who has had an experience
of three  decades in this field. His vision was to establish a
school with  a deference and provide high quality and value
based education to prepare our students to upright citizens ,
honest, and able administrators and politicians  of tomorrow.  
Rev. B. L D' Souza has undertaken  this colossal project  
keeping unfathomable faith in Providence and good will of the
people.

Genesis and Growth
LCS started in 1999 with a record strength of 230 students in
the first year, has carved its own niche in the community and
has been recognized  for quality education and all round
development  of the students.  At present , the school
accommodates students in the age group 3
1/2 to  4 1/2  in
classes beginning with KG1 and KG2

LCS is located on the serene church campus , ideal for an
educational institution. The school building overlooks a
beautiful lucious scenery offering  a panoramic view of  
Mangalore city.  With its excellent educational infrastructure,
well set objectives and innovative approach t co-education,
LCS stands high above and has gained  confidence of parents
seeking for a meaningful and quality education for their

The Team
The school is headed by Ms Grace Noronha who has a proven
track record of more than two decades of experience in
teaching , starting from Kindergarten to Collage of education ,
in and out side India.  Ms Grace Noronha is ably assisted by
experienced teachers with special skill and techniques of
teaching in KG and primary School.

School Structure and System
Std I to Std VII
The system is co-educational with 3 terms with in June to
April academic year.
The medium of instruction is English.
First Language English
Second Language Hindi
third Language Kannada Std. III onwards
Std I to VII have a 5 day academic week and the 6th day the
pupils will receive a guidance and instruction in the following
co curricular activities
Elocution , Extempore, Creative writing, Art and craft,     
Choir singing, Quiz, Dramatics, Poetry,Calisthenics and
Rythematic  movements, Cubs and Bulbuls

Promotion and Awards at the end of the academic year are
given on the basis  of achievement and endeavour during the
3 terms. Hence the assessment of the pupils through grades is

Project Work
Project work is an important educational tool at LCS .Study  
from text books is a necessity , yet, all learning experience  
must be embellished  through project work. With this sound
educational principle in view,interesting monthly projects take
place of pride in the diary of the school and makes learning
pleasurable and memorable.  The projects involve every
student and the large variety of activities built around the
central theme of the project, a cause for thrilling anticipation
and whole hearted participation among the students  and out of
text book refreshing experience for the teaching staff.
Evaluation
Grades and in order to establish comprehensive acceptable
norm in evaluation, the marking system will be combined
wit grading system.
Grade O- Outstanding - Scoring 95-100 marks
Grade A- Very good- Scoring 85- 95 marks
Grade B- Good- Scoring 70- 84 marks
Grade C- Average/Satisfactory -Scoring 50-69 marks
Grade D- Needs to improve- Scoring 35-49 marks
Grade E- Difficulty in coping- Scoring 34 and below

There will be no ranking system.  How ever the student
scoring the highest aggregate in all 3 terms will be awarded
the General Proficiency Prize at the Annual Academic
Award Ceremony. The students securing highest marks in
each subject will also be awarded with merit certificates.
